Folk Metal

Folk metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal, that developed in Europe inthe 1990s.
It's a fusion of heavy metal music with traditional folk.
One of the firsts bands of folk metal was the English band Skyclad. Their debut album, The Wayward sons of Mother Earth was released in 1990, and for some years, they were the only known band of folk metal.
In 1994 and 1995, other bands started to appear in the genre, from different regions of Europe, like in Israel.
Each one of that new bands, were creating a different regional variation.
In the 2000s, the genre exploded into prominence.
Folk music is characterised by the diversity with known bands to perfom different styles.
Lyrics in the genre commonly deal with paganism, nature, fantasy, mythology and history.
Our favorite band, Mago de Oz, plays folk metal music too. Some of their most famous songs of folk metal are:
* Jesús De Chamberí
* Van A Rodar Cabezas
* El Santo Grial
* Satania
* La Leyenda De La Mancha
* Gaia
* Maritornes
* El Paseo De Los Tristes
* Astaroth
* Réquiem
Really cool, we think.
We love Mago de Oz (L)
Hope u like our post,

We forgot to put our ghosts story.
Here we go:
The Lady in white.
A boy, finds a beatiful lady, he invites her to dance and drink something. She was cold. He gaves her his jumper. She drops cafe on it. The next day, when the boy went to say her if she could give him his jumper, the lady's mother told him that her daughter is dead, in the cementery of Recoleta. The boy went there and finds his jumper in the lady's tomb. He went crazy and killed himself.
It's a little short, but a very weird story.
Do you believe in ghosts?

St. Felicitas Church

Hello :D today we wrote about ghosts, hope you like it. Also if you know of more of them please tell us so that we can write about them too.
St. Felicitas Church in Barracas, is the home of the most famous ghost of Buenos Aires, its name is Felicitas Guerrero of Aizaga. When she was 15, she married with Martín of Aizaga (who was a landowner). Felicitas has two sons with him, and both of them died when they were young.
At 24 she was widow, but still was beautiful and rich. Two impetuous young men fighted for her, and they were: Enrique Ocampo and the farmer, Sáenz Valiente.
Felicitas chose the second; but Ocampo, who loved her since ever, couldn´t bear the scorn and asked to see her before the wedding. They argued, and Ocampo killed her with two shots in 30/01/1872. Ocampo´s family says that Guerrero´s family killed Enrique; but Guerrero´s family says Enrique commited suicide. Well, that´s not the important part, what´s really important is that Felicitas´s family built St. Felicitas Church behind the house, qhere today is Colombia Park.
The legends says that Felicitas walks behind the grids of the church in all 30th January and laments. Some people leave handkerchiefs tied to the grids. When the church was restores for first time, the architect discovered that all the angels, in it, had dropped the right wing -Felicitas was shot on the right shoulder-. When taht was repaired all the bells stated to ring by themselves. St. Felcitas Church is the less chose for weddings. Nowadays it´s being restored.

Heavy Metal

Heavy Metal, is a musical genre which evolutionated from rock and roll, and hard rock. It's basic caracteristics are potent rhytms, from distorcionated guitars, drums, and basses.
'Heavy metal' was made from the progression of this genre since it's creation. Actually, it's used to make reference of two terms very differenced: heavy metal as musical genre (also called metal) and clasic heavy metal, as a traditional musical subgenre in that genre.
The appearence of 'metallers', is a little weird in comparison to another appeareces. Metallers, usually uses looooooooooooooooooooong hair, and a wild, without care beard, strange tight leather pants, military boots or trainers, and t-shirts without sleeves. Black colour in their clothes, are tipical in this kind of music.
This kind of appearence, were, in the begginings, (from Judas Priest), to show his homosexuallity, but then, it was like the symbol of metal.
Popular bands form today, for example, are Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Metallica, Judas Priest, Aerosmith, and other bands, well known and very cool.

Pop Music

Pop music is one of the music genres mostly extended among youg people who likes music from all around the world.
To go to the origins of pop music, we have to go to the begginings of the rock and roll approximately in 1955. In 1958, the most famous rockstars, like Elvis or Jerry Lee, were a little distanced from rock for some weird reasons.
Rock music, was something like the 'father' of pop music.
The aparition of 'The Beatles' make another evolutive change for the rock pop. 'The Beatles' made the emergence of a lot of bands inspirated in them, making a drastic movement in pop music, both in Great Britain and the United States of America.
In the ends of 1974, appeared music disco, especially represented for Gloria Gaynor and Dora Summer. This 'disco' sound, made another big advance, even more significant to this new genre.

Argentinian Rock

Rock came to Argentina in the 50s. It came just like a new kind of music. Real Argentinian Rock, ten years later, it started to grow up.
It had some influence from Elvis Presley, Bill Halley and The Comets etc. They, woke up in Argentinian singers, the desire of playing rock'n roll.
In the 60s, with the incorporation of the twist (Chubby Checker), this new kind of music started to grow more and more.
Some TV programs in the Argentina, like "Ritmo y Juventud" and "El Club Del Clan" or people, like Palito Ortega, Johny Tedesco, Nicky Jones, Lalo Fransen, Jolly Land were proclaiming this new sort.
Today, some of the favourite bands, are Soda Stereo, Los Piojos, La Renga, Callejeros, Catupecu Machu, etc.
We think they're nice, the Argentinian Rock has evolved too much, it has passed from Palito Ortega, for example, to Soda Stereo.
Really cool, we think ^^.
See you in our next post, it's going to be about....

Celtic Rock
Our first post is going to be about Celtic Rock.
The Celtic Rock, for someone who doesn't know, is a genre of folk rock, which incorporates Celtic music.
It's seen as the hybrid of Irish and Scottish Gaelic music, with new improved musical forms.
Some of the traiditional instruments include, flute, accordion, melodeon, etc.
Some of the most famous American groups, sing in English, not Gaelic/Irish. Also, they don't have poeple with Irish or Scottish heritage, but they put their influences in the songs.
Our favourite band, for example, is Mago de Oz. They come from Spain.
They sing a lot of sorts, but some of them are Celtic Rock or Folkmetal.
Some of famous bands, actually, are: In extremo, Hagalaz reundance, Cruachan, Ñu, Blackmore's Night, Corona Borealis, Tamzwut.
They are really cool!
See ya in our next post.
